OBJECTIVE
A space for exchange and collaboration to improve EHS practices in the surface treatment sector
In 2025, several VOM members took the initiative to create a working group dedicated to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS). This group was formed out of a shared commitment to exchange best practices and support companies, especially SMEs that may not always have in-house EHS advisors.
The surface treatment sector is subject to strict regulations, particularly due to the daily handling of chemical products and hazardous substances. In this context, the EHS working group aims to:
- Facilitate experience sharing among professionals in the sector,
- Identify and promote practical actions to enhance safety and reduce environmental impact,
- Support SMEs in their EHS efforts by providing inspiring examples and actionable solutions.
Thematic interviews: a first concrete action
To kick off its activities, the EHS working group chose to conduct a series of interviews by technology or substrate. These interviews highlight best practices, sector-specific challenges, and solutions implemented by VOM members.
The interviews are published in VOMinfo magazine to widely share lessons learned from the field. The first interview appeared in the April 2025 edition of VOMinfo and features specialists in stainless steel treatment.
Read the interview with Chimiderouil, Packo, and Technochim – available in [French] and [Dutch].
