Working Group CO₂-Footprint

Industry expertise driving the sustainability transition

HISTORY

VOM recently entered into a partnership with Moore to further support its members in their sustainability transition. The aim is to help companies comply with regulatory requirements and respond to the growing demand from customers for information on sustainability and carbon emissions.

Together with the industry, VOM is developing a sector-specific calculation tool to determine the carbon footprint of common surface treatment processes. The tool will provide companies with a uniform and reliable method to assess the climate impact of their operations.

To ensure that the tool reflects real industrial practices, a working group of industry experts has been established. Through interactive workshops, they contribute their knowledge and experience to help shape, validate and refine the calculation tool.

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of the working group is to develop an industry-specific calculation tool for determining the carbon footprint of common surface treatment processes.

The tool will help companies to:

  • calculate and report their CO₂ emissions;
  • respond to customer requests regarding sustainability;
  • identify the main sources of emissions;
  • support and substantiate CO₂ reduction initiatives;
  • prepare for future sustainability reporting requirements.

PARTICIPANTS

The working group brings together professionals from the surface treatment industry:

  • Hilde Discart, AG Coating
  • Mireille Huppertz, Huppertz
  • Philippe Legros, OCAS
  • Wim Mussche, Iris
  • Mieke Vander Plaetse, Hydro Building Systems
