ECHA: Cr6 restriction proposal will soon be officially available.
The public consultation on the ECHA proposal for a REACH restriction on Cr(VI) will start in June 2025.
On April 30, 2025, ECHA published its proposal for a restriction on its website, ahead of the start of the public consultation on its proposed restriction on June 18, 2025.
The scope was initially limited to chromium trioxide and chromic acid but was later extended to 12 Cr(VI) compounds. Once the restriction is adopted, the Commission intends to remove these chemicals from the REACH authorization list, meaning that no authorization will be required for their use.
A six-month public consultation period will begin on 18 June 2025. During this phase, all interested stakeholders including industry, NGOs, and public health experts are invited to submit data-supported feedback.
We strongly encourage you to participate in this public consultation, as your input may shape future regulatory decisions and help mitigate potential impacts on your industrial activities. Participating actively is a strategic way to stay ahead of regulatory developments and protect your operations.
