DETHERMIK officially approved: shaping the future of sustainable industrial heat processes

DETHERMIK, a joint project by Sirris, Flux50 and VOM, has been officially approved. It aims to make industrial heat processes more sustainable.

The project focuses on thermal energy storage (TES) and high-temperature heat pumps (HTHP) to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, particularly in the surface treatment industry.

DETHERMIK explores how waste heat, renewable energy, thermal storage and heat pump technologies can contribute to a more flexible, sustainable and cost-efficient energy system. More than 30 companies across the entire value chain are working together on practical solutions, tools, demonstration projects and knowledge sharing.

The official kick-off will take place on 3 December 2026 from 2:00 pm at Sirris in Leuven, where the project and innovative heat pump solutions will be presented. The initiative aims to turn industrial heat from a climate challenge into a competitive advantage.
