PUBLIC CONSULTATION on the PFAS restriction proposal has started!

European Chemicals Agency supports EU-wide measures with appropriate exemptions and controls to address the increasing and long-term risks that PFAS pose to humans and the environment.

Give your opinion on the draft SEAC opinion on PFAS.

VOM encourages all stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft opinion of the Committee for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) regarding the proposed restriction of PFAS. This is crucial for the future of their widespread applications.

The proposed PFAS restriction would introduce a general ban on the production, use, and placing on the market of PFAS in the EU, with strict concentration limits applying after a transition period of 18 months. At the same time, the proposal includes specific exemptions for certain applications and sectors where PFAS are still considered necessary and no alternatives are yet available, allowing these uses to continue under defined conditions and within set timeframes.

The 60-day consultation started on 26 March 2026 and runs until 25 May 2026. After this date, no further comments can be submitted.
